Abilitie Launches the 12-Week MBA Experience in Collaboration with TED and St. Edward’s University

A new global mini-MBA designed for the AI era delivers practical business skills without requiring professionals to leave their careers

AUSTIN, Texas — April 7, 2026 — Abilitie, a global leadership development company known for its simulation-based executive education programs, today announced a new chapter for The 12-Week MBA through a global collaboration with TED and St. Edward’s University.

The 12-Week MBA is a part-time MBA experience designed to help professionals build practical business and leadership skills for the age of AI. First introduced in fall 2019 as Invited MBA, the evolved program combines curated TED content, live faculty-led discussions, immersive business simulations, and a global cohort experience. Participants earn a non-credit bearing professional education certificate from St. Edward’s University that provides an onramp to the university's online or campus-based graduate business programs.

“The 12-Week MBA brings powerful TED ideas into the flow of real-world business challenges, helping leaders expand how they think, solve problems, and show up for their teams,” said Darby Coleman, Senior Director of TED@Work.

“Tomorrow’s leaders need more than just knowledge — they need to practice business judgment,” said Bjorn Billhardt, CEO of Abilitie. “This interactive program is designed to help professionals quickly build the financial fluency, strategic thinking, and leadership capability needed to manage and lead modern organizations.”

Alongside a carefully selected cohort of professionals from around the world, participants learn through live online sessions held three days per week while engaging in team-based projects and action-based business simulations that mirror real-world leadership challenges.

“Abilitie doesn’t have a ‘one-size fits all’ offering. Their ability (pun intended) to adapt to our needs in such a short amount of time highlights the flexible nature of their product design and construct. As a client, that’s a highly valuable attribute of their offering.”

“St. Edward’s is committed to academic excellence, and we are proud to be part of this exciting partnership,” said Marianne Ward-Peradoza, provost of St. Edward’s University. “As a collaborative educational partner in Austin and across the globe, we recognize that today’s professionals and modern learners need flexible, high-impact opportunities to advance their skills, and this program exemplifies how we are creating pathways that empower them to remain competitive in rapidly evolving industries.”

Through this program, participants build the ability to create business value, interpret financial statements, think strategically, manage human and financial resources, and make sound decisions in complex, high-stakes environments. They also strengthen the leadership skills needed to align teams, influence across functions, navigate ambiguity, and lead with confidence under pressure. Rather than relying on traditional lectures, participants apply concepts through interactive simulations and case studies. TED Talks, selected by TED@Work curators, are woven throughout the curriculum to spark thought-provoking discussion.

“As a premier institution recognized for excellence in business education and innovative, industry-informed teaching, St. Edward’s University is uniquely positioned to collaborate on this program, bringing together immersive simulations, global perspectives and TED’s powerful ideas to create a transformative learning experience,” said Alexis Stokes, dean of The Bill Munday School of Business.

Gina Curran, 12-Week MBA Program Director, added that many students use the program as a starting point for a full MBA degree, to change career paths, or to advance into management roles after graduation.

To preserve the interactive nature of the experience, enrollment is limited to 40 participants per section and 200 participants per cohort. The program culminates in a live capstone graduation experience, including an in-person international weekend where participants meet peers from around the world for a final simulation challenge, guest speakers, and networking.

Applications for the fall 2026 cohort are open. Tuition is $4,500, with a $300 discount for participants who pay in full at the time of registration this spring. Merit-and need-based scholarships are available.
